The building had suffered from persistent roof leaks, worn and damaged flooring, and an ageing ceiling that no longer met the standards of a leading academic institution. We approached the works as a full rehabilitation — securing the structure and building envelope first, then rebuilding the interior finishes to deliver a comfortable, modern space for lectures, conferences, and events.
The Challenge Of Project
The main challenge was restoring a fully functional institutional venue without reducing its capacity or character. Water infiltration through the roof had damaged interior surfaces, so the project had to combine structural roofing and thermal insulation with a complete interior renovation — new flooring, a tiered suspended ceiling with integrated LED lighting, a refurbished cafeteria and interiors, and upholstered comfort seating — all coordinated to a tight academic calendar.
